Terms for using Niles Connect.
These terms describe the basic rules for accessing and using
Niles Connect, including public information, community features,
account tools, local business listings, and research resources.
Independent project
Niles Connect is privately operated.
Niles Connect is an independent community project and is not
affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Village of Niles
or any other government agency.
Using the site
Use Niles Connect for lawful and appropriate purposes.
Public areas of Niles Connect may generally be browsed without
an account. Interactive features require compliance with the site’s
community, moderation, privacy, and safety rules.
Lawful use
Do not use Niles Connect to facilitate unlawful activity,
fraud, abuse, harassment, threats, or other prohibited conduct.
Respect the site
Do not intentionally interfere with the website,
attempt unauthorized access, abuse automated requests,
or disrupt other users’ ability to use the service.
Use features for their intended purpose
Community posts, help requests, activities, business listings,
public records, and other tools should be used for the purpose
they were designed to serve.
Accounts
Interactive features may require an account.
You are responsible for the activity associated with your account
and for maintaining the security of your login information.
Provide accurate account information
Do not intentionally impersonate another person or create accounts
for deceptive or abusive purposes.
Protect your credentials
Keep your password secure and do not knowingly allow another person
to misuse your account.
Participation may be restricted
Accounts or specific interactive features may be restricted
when necessary to address serious or repeated misuse.
User-submitted content
You are responsible for what you submit.
Community posts, help requests, offers, activities,
business information, reports, and other user submissions
may be reviewed before or after publication.
Submit content you are allowed to provide
Do not knowingly submit material that you are not permitted
to share or that unlawfully violates another person’s rights.
Keep information reasonably accurate
Do not intentionally use community tools to publish false,
deceptive, or materially misleading information.
Protect privacy
Avoid submitting unnecessary private or sensitive information
about yourself or other people.
Submitted material
Niles Connect needs permission to display what you submit.
By submitting material for public display through Niles Connect,
you permit Niles Connect to store, display, format, moderate,
and distribute that material as reasonably necessary to operate
the relevant site feature.
You retain responsibility
Submission does not transfer responsibility for the accuracy,
legality, or appropriateness of your content to Niles Connect.
Formatting may change
Content may be reformatted, resized, excerpted, or displayed
differently across desktop, mobile, feeds, or other site layouts.
Moderation may affect visibility
A submission may be delayed, declined, removed, or otherwise
restricted under applicable community and moderation rules.
Local businesses
Directory listings are informational resources.
Inclusion in the Local Businesses directory does not represent
an endorsement, recommendation, certification, guarantee,
or approval of a business, organization, product, or service.
Information can change
Business hours, ownership, services, prices, addresses,
and other details may change without immediate notice.
Verify important details
Contact the business directly when current information
matters to your decision.
Offers are provided by participants
Local offers and announcements may be submitted by businesses
or other participating users and should be evaluated accordingly.
Public records & research
Source material requires context.
Public records, investigations, civic-source information,
and datasets may contain allegations, incomplete information,
historical material, disputed statements, or source errors.
A record proves what the record contains
An authentic document does not automatically establish that
every statement contained within it is true.
Research can remain incomplete
Investigations may contain unresolved questions or information
that changes as additional records become available.
Use source information
Review available source links, dates, context,
and related material before drawing conclusions.
External sources & links
Niles Connect includes information and links from outside sources.
Public-source feeds, external websites, maps, government pages,
businesses, and other third-party resources are not controlled
by Niles Connect.
External sites have their own rules
When you leave Niles Connect, the destination site’s terms,
privacy practices, and content policies apply.
External information may change
Niles Connect cannot guarantee that outside information,
links, feeds, or services will remain available or unchanged.
Source attribution is not endorsement
Linking to or identifying a source does not mean
Niles Connect endorses that source or every statement it publishes.
Availability
The site is an ongoing project.
Niles Connect remains under development and may never have
a traditional final launch. Features, pages, plugins, data sources,
account tools, and other services may change or stop working.
No guarantee of uninterrupted service
Pages, links, searches, forms, feeds, maps, or other features
may be unavailable, incomplete, or temporarily broken.

Niles Connect may add, modify, reorganize, replace,
restrict, or remove features as the project develops.

Niles Connect is a community information project.
