Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about independence, accounts, privacy, moderation, verification, public information, and participation.

Is Niles Connect operated by the Village of Niles?

No. Niles Connect is independently operated unless a page explicitly identifies an official source or agency relationship.

Why is registration closed?

Registration is intentionally disabled while the site is being developed and tested. It can be opened when the participation, moderation, privacy, and onboarding systems are ready.

Is my address public?

Members should use a general area rather than an exact home address. Forms must clearly distinguish public and private location fields.

What does verified mean?

A verification label describes a specific administrative check. It is not a guarantee, endorsement, complete background check, or promise about future conduct.

Are community reports official reports?

No. A community report does not replace contacting the proper agency and does not prove that an agency received or confirmed the information.

Where does news and event information come from?

Some information is imported from public or official sources. The original source remains authoritative and should be checked for changes.

How are posts moderated?

Requirements depend on content type, account history, sensitivity, privacy, and safety. Some content may publish immediately while sensitive content remains subject to review.

How do I report incorrect or harmful content?

Use the Contact page and provide the page URL, a concise explanation, and any relevant evidence.

Can businesses participate?

Yes. The planned model separates permanent reviewed business profiles from temporary deals, events, and hiring notices.

How do I delete my account or request my data?

Use the Contact page. Identity verification may be required before account or data requests are completed.
