Who has the records?
A public records request should generally be directed to the public
body that created, received, maintains, possesses or controls the
records you are seeking.
How should you submit?
Public bodies may accept requests by email, online portal, mail,
fax, personal delivery or another available method. The directory
can include the FOIA officer, email address, request portal and
other submission information when available.
Think about which government office is most likely to maintain or control
the records you want. Some records may exist with more than one public body.
