resources in one place.
Is Niles Connect a government website?
No. Niles Connect is an independent, privately operated community
project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by
the Village of Niles or any other government agency.
Is the website finished?
No. Niles Connect remains an ongoing project. Features, pages,
information, and tools may continue to change, and the project
may never have a traditional final launch.
Who can use Niles Connect?
Public portions of the site are intended for residents,
local businesses, organizations, visitors, and others
interested in the Niles community.
Do I have to pay to use the site?
Niles Connect does not currently require payment to browse
its public community information and tools.
Where should I start?
The homepage provides an overview, while How It Works explains
the major sections and when an account is needed.

Do I need an account?

What is My Niles?
My Niles is your personal area for community profiles,
activities, connections, submissions, and approved
business-management tools.
Is my account the same as my community profile?
No. Your site account provides access to interactive features.
A participating community profile is separate and contains
information used by resident activities and connection tools.
Do I have to create a community profile?
No. A community profile is intended for people who choose
to participate in resident activities and connection features.
Can everyone see my community profile?
Community-profile visibility is governed by the resident
participation and privacy controls provided through My Niles.
Review those controls before adding information to your profile.

How do I share something?

best matches what you want to contribute.
Can I ask the community for help?
Yes. Participating users can submit appropriate help requests
through the community tools.
Can I create an activity?
Eligible participating residents can create community activities
through the tools available in My Niles.
Does my submission appear immediately?
Not necessarily. Many community submissions are reviewed
before they become publicly visible.
Does approval mean Niles Connect verified my post?
No. Moderation and factual verification are different processes.
Approval for publication does not necessarily mean every statement
in a community submission has been independently verified.
What happens if something violates the rules?
Content may be rejected, moderated, edited where appropriate,
or removed according to the site’s community and moderation policies.

Does a listing mean Niles Connect endorses the business?
No. Directory inclusion is provided as a community resource
and does not constitute an endorsement, certification,
recommendation, or guarantee.
Can businesses share offers?
Appropriate local offers can be submitted through
the site’s community submission tools.
Can a business owner manage a listing?
Approved users can manage business listings assigned
to their Niles Connect account.
What if my business is already listed?
Do not submit a duplicate. Find the existing directory listing
and use the available management or ownership process.

Where do public records come from?
Public records and evidence maintained through DocumentWatch
may come from public agencies, FOIA responses, public sources,
and other documented research material.
Can I search the records?
Yes. Use Search Records to search public DocumentWatch research.
What is an investigation?

timelines, FOIA activity, people, organizations,
questions, and documented claims.
Does appearing in a record prove something happened?
No. Records can contain allegations, preliminary information,
incomplete accounts, administrative notes, or material requiring
additional context.
What is the Camera Map?
It is a transparency tool for exploring available information
about known camera locations, changes, reports, and related data.
Can I download data?
